Genomic pairwise identity represents the degree of nucleotide sequence similarity between complete virus genomes. According to the report by International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV), the nucleotide sequence identity of virus genomes within the same genus is usually greater than 50%, and viruses with sequence identity greater than 95% are considered to be isolates of the same virus species.
